A leader of a notorious crime group was apprehended Monday evening while police were conducting checkpoint operations a part of election gun-ban implementation in Valenzuela City, police reports said Tuesday.
Reports at the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters identified the arrested suspect as Danilo Rosario, alias “Danny Ilokano” and erstwhile leader of Ilokano Group.
The NCRPO reports said that Rosario was nabbed at around 7:30pm Monday at a checkpoint set-up by the police near the boundary of Brgy. West Canumay in Valenzuela City.
Seized by the police from Rosario’s possession was one Super 38 loaded with six live ammunitions, the reports said.
The reports said Rosario was an ex-convict and leader of the Ilokano Group involved in robbery holdup cases and riding in tandem criminal activities in Valenzuela City and Meycauyan, Bulacan.
The suspects is now detained at the Valenzuela City Police office and undergoing investigation, NCRPO reports said.
Meanwhile, NCRPO chief, Director Leonardo Espina said that a total of 49 persons have been arrested and 29 firearms, three grenades and 16 deadly weapons have been seized during the first week of election gun-ban implementation.
Espina said that those arrested will be charged for violation of the omnibus election in relation to the election gun-ban being implemented by the police and Commission on Elections.
