Ilang senador, mahistrado, exempted sa gun ban ng Comelec

BINIGYAN ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ng personal gun ban exemption ang ilang senador at mga mahistrado ng Korte Suprema.

Nabatid na kabilang sa mga exempted sa gun ban ay sina Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Vicente Sotto III, Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, Associate Justices Roberto Abad, Arturo Brion, Marvic Leonen, Diosdado Peralta at Lucas Bersamin.

Maaari ring magdala ng armas sina Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, Defense Assistant Secretary Zabedin Asis, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado, at ang mga chiefs of staff ng lahat ng tanggapan ng lahat ng commissioner ng Comelec.

Samantala, binigyan rin ng security personnel sina Enrile at ang iba pang senador na sina Antonio Trillanes, Loren Legarda at Manuel Lapid, dating Senator Teresa Aquino-Oreta, Commission on Audit Chairwoman Grace Pulido Tan, Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda at Board Member Dennis Pineda.

Exempted rin ang mga law enforcement agencies at 61 private security agencies.

Wala pa namang personal exemption na ibinigay sa sinumang pribadong indibidwal dahil kinakailangan pang isailalim ang mga ito sa threat assessment sa Philippine National Police (PNP).

Ang election gun ban para sa May 13 midterm elections ay nagsimula noong Enero 13.
