AABOT sa P27.6 milyon halaga ng marijuana ang sinira ng pinagsanib na puwersa ng Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at Philippine National Police (PNP) sa Ilocos Sur nitong nakalipas na Mayo 9, 2014, Biyernes.
Ayon kay PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. sinalakay ng mga ahente ng PDEA Regional Office 1 sa ilalim ni Director Adrian Alvarino, PNP Cervantes Police station, Ilocos Sur Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) at Ilocos Sur Provincial Public Safety Company (ISPPSC), ang mga puno ng marijuana plants sa Dinwende West, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur na may kabuuang 8,000 square meters na land area.
“The marijuana eradication operation is under case operation plan code name: “Green Gold 2”. Although no cultivator was arrested during the operation, the operating teams were able to seize 138,000 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants worth P27,600,000 based on the value set by the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB),” ani ni Cacdac.
Kaugnay nito, binigyan naman ng pagkilala ni Cacdac ang operatiba ng PDEA at PNP sa matagumpay na operasyon na isinagawa sa eradication ng puno ng marijuana sa naturang rehiyon.
