Gold miner hacked to death in Agusan del Sur

A GOLD miner was hacked to death by his worker in a remote village in Agusan del Sur, Wednesday noon, police reports said on Thursday.

Reports reaching Camp Crame identified the victim as Avelino Gambong, 47 and resident of Barangay Das-agan, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur.

The suspect identified as Romeo Polensio, Sr., neighbor of the victim. Polensio fled immediately after the incident, reports said.

According to the report, the hacking incident took place at around 12:30pm while the two were having a conversation at the said place.

While in the middle of conversation, a heated argument ensued between the two with Polensio hacked his boss on the different parts of his body using a sharp ‘bolo’.

The reports said, Gambong was declared dead on arrival at the D.O Plaza Memorial Hospital in Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur where he was rushed.

San Francisco Police have maximized its operation to capture the fleeing suspect, reports said.
