A thirty-eight year old farmer was stabbed dead by a fellow farmer following a heated argument in a remote village in Agusan del Sur late Tuesday night, police reports said on Thursday.
Reports reaching the PNP operations center in Camp Crame identified the stabbing victim as Eugene Montadas, while the suspect identified as 50-year old Porfero Rodrigo.
The reports said that the two were having a drinking spree at around 4pm Tuesday in their place at Barangay Sagunot, La Paz town when a heated argument ensued between the two farmers.
At the height of their argument, Rodrigo reportedly drew a bladed weapon and quickly stabbed Montadas hitting him on his left chest and resulting to his instant death, the reports said.
The reports said Rodrigo surrendered to the police hours after the stabbing incident and is now detained at the La Paz Police station.
