AN AGENT of Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group became a recipient of “posthumous award” following his immediate death during a dangerous encounter against lawless elements linked in illegal drugs where the great effort recently transpired in Samson Street, Freedom Park Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
NCRPO Police Regional Director Leonardo A. Espina and Quezon City Police District Acting District Director, PSSupt. Richard Albano identified the receiver of “Medalya ng Kagalingan” as PO1 Renato Tabago an agent of Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group who was stabbed and shot to death during an anti-illegal drugs operation.
General Espina along with PSSupt. Albano personally presented the PNP Medal of Merit to the family and beloved of PO1 Tabago at their residence in Tondo Manila.
The PNP high ranking officials lauded Tabago’s act of gallantry during an anti-illegal drugs operation rolled at about 9:10Am last June 9, 2013 in Barangay Batasan Hills, Quezon City.
According to Espina, Tabago boldly approached the suspects identified as Jhonly Villaruel Gabriel alias “Jun Li,” one Randy Villaruel and a certain Meco, but the armed group violently stabbed him several times on the body then shot him on the forehead using the former’s service firearm.
“The strong commitment of PO1 Tabago in the performance of his duties as police officer, risking and sacrificing his dear life, earned the lasting honor and respect not only for himself and the NCRPO but for the entire Philippine National Police organization,” he stated.
