THE Philippine National Police (PNP) disaster management efforts has shifted to security and clearing operations in affected areas in Luzon, official said Friday
Police Regional, Provincial, City and Municipal Offices were instructed by PNP Chief, Directir General Alan Purisima to intensify law enforcement operations particularly in evacuated communities against possible looting of abandoned residences.
In coordination with Barangay Peace-Keeping Action Teams (BPAT), local Police units were instructed to be on the look-out for criminal elements who may take advantage of the situation.
These police units were instructed to mobilize local neighborhood watch groups and force multipliers that will assist in efforts to guard the abandoned communities whose residents remain in evacuation centers awaiting orders to return to their homes.
PNP publicist, SSupt Reuben Theodore C Sindac said clearing operations are now underway, insupport of the NDRRMC and AFP, to allow unhampered passage of relief supplies, market stocks and essential commodities, as well as engineering equipment and materials for infrastructure rehabilitation.
